The only thing you probably need to save is the file you want to change, just make a copy of it on your desktop or where ever you like. Let me know if it works! There is no need for a restorepoint. As usual, make sure you do a restore point before you hit go, but your machine should be able to handle the fix easily. Yeah you have twice the amount I do for graphics. It may be enough to stop crashes, but I haven't tested how much RAM the game can use at max. 2048MB is the limit of your card.(mine is 4GB.so go figure this fix worked easily for me.) don't switch that line of code from 516 to 2048. most likely to save people with potato computers any trouble. The devs don't allow the game by default to use enough RAM to run properly. Your card just needs enough RAM to handle the game when it's loading all those textures. It all falls on your graphics card to be able to handle it. I have a GTX 970 and a i5 8600k with 16GB of RAM. I have GTX680 and 8 GB of RAM i7 processor, will this work for me or I shouldn't try (harmful)? I found one on here that worked, but I cannot find the thread anymore. Seems different fixes work for different systems.
